Constitution

Article I - NAME The name of this organization shall be Friends of The Verona Public Library.

Article II - MISSION The mission of this organization shall be: -to maintain an association of persons interested in libraries -to focus public attention on the library -to educate the community in the library's resources and services -to recieve and encourage gifts and bequests to the library -to support and cooperate with the library in developing library services and facilites for the community, and to sponsor educational and cultural programs

Article III - MEMBERSHIP Section 1 Membership in this organization shall be open to all persons interested in the library. Section 2 Each membership shall be entitled to one vote.

Article IV - DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, AND ELECTIONS Section 1 The Board of Directors shall consist of officers: President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Chairperson, Newslietter Editor, and other Directors as appointed by the officers. Section 2 Term of Office a. All officers shall be elected for a 2-year term. The term of the Membership Chairperson shall be at the discretion of the Board of Directors. b. The election of officers shall be held at the November meeting by a majority vote of those members in good standing present at the November meeting. The elected officers shall take office at the start of the next fiscal year.

Article V - AMENDMENTS Suggestions for amendments may be made at any regular Friends meeting by any member of Friends in good standing. Amendments must be voted on and adopted by a simple majority vote of present members.

Article VI - FINANCES Section 1 Monies received from memberships, projects, gifts and memorials shall be used to further the purposes of this organization. Section 2 The Board of Directors shall approve all expenditures from the Friends funds.

Article VII - FISCAL YEAR The fiscal year shall be from January 1 through December 31 each year.
